Stylecards is a quarterly fashion and lifestyle magazine and we are looking for photographers.

Before submitting an application, it's a good idea to understand how we use photos in the magazine, as some of them might be easier than others for a freelance photographer.

If a photographer will be taking photos of a model, we strongly encourage them to read the Modeling for Stylecards article, which sets out responsibilities for each role.

Pictorials/Photo features

Though Xyntia prefers the term pictorial, others prefer to call them photo features. Either way, these are collections of 10 - 20 photos with a common theme, and each issue of the magazine usually has three to four of them. In Stylecards № 7, there were pictorials around the themes of Pumpkin Spice, Camouflage, and the Avatar Welcome Pack. If you have at least ten outfits that could fit around a particular theme, send a notecard to Xyntia Amore and pitch the idea. Maybe we'll be interested in publishing it.

All photos for pictorials must be 2048 x 2048 pixels.

Designer Showcases

Since Stylecards № 2, each issue has had one or two designer showcases. In these articles, a creator in Second Life is interviewed by one of our writers and we take photos of a selection of their products to show alongside the text.

While designer showcases normally focus on clothes, we have had creators of other products as well, such as Halloween decorations, jewelry, and hair.

If you know a designer who might be interested in being in a designer showcase, send a notecard to Xyntia Amore with a proposal.

Photos for designer showcases are normally 2048 x 2048 pixels.

Travel articles

In each issue of Stylecards, we try to include at least one travel article. This is an article that highlights a sim that we feel is worthy of visiting. For photographers, these are a great opportunity to take some spectacular photos of gorgeous landscapes.

Though most photos for travel articles are 2048 x 2048 pixels, we try to include at least one that is 2048 pixels tall by 4096 pixels wide.

If you know a sim that would make a great travel article, send a notecard to Xyntia Amore with the idea.

Other articles

Second Life has a veritable cornucopia of subcultures and communities, and at Stylecards we like to present information about them to our readers. Articles in recent issues or the magazine have included looks at the Second Life wedding industry, the Digital Farming System, and bikers.

Including photos with the articles makes them more memorable and interesting, as well as highlighting items mentioned in the text. If would like to try taking photos for an article in an upcoming issue, send a notecard to Xyntia Amore to see if we need photos.

Nudity and sexual content

Stylecards is a Moderate rated publication, so we will not publish photographs featuring nudity or sexual activity. Risqué photos are fine, however.

AI images

Stylecards will not accept any images that are created or enhanced by AI. While we feel images created by AI have their place, it isn't in our magazine.
