Writing for Stylecards

Stylecards is a quarterly fashion and lifestyle magazine and we are looking for writers.

Before submitting an application, it's a good idea to understand the different types of articles, as some of them might be easier for a freelance writer.

Coming events

Coming Events are a way to write about events in Second Life that will happen in the next few months. These articles are fairly short, with around 300 - 600 words. Each Coming Event article will pay L$500.

Resident tips

Resident Tips are articles mainly written for newer residents in Second Life and should be about ways to get the most out of their in-world experience. These articles should be between 300 - 600 words and will pay L$500.

Listicles

Listicles are collections of smaller content complied into a list of sorts. They are fairly short with word counts between 300 - 600 words. An example of this is the article on Decor in Stylecards № 1. Pays L$500.

Travel articles

Travel articles highlight locations in Second Life that people might find interesting and/or entertaining. The locations should be places where a resident could spend hours wandering or participating in activities. If you know of an interesting sim that might interest our readers, send a notecard with the idea to Xyntia Amore and discuss it with her. Travel articles should be approximately 750 - 1200 words and will pay L$1000.

Lifestyle articles

Second Life has a vast variety of cultures and communities and we like to highlight one or two in each issue. Lifestyle articles should introduce our readers to the community and help them understand what it's about, but not overwhelm them with details. However, it should include information about where they can find more information if they're interested. These articles should be between 1000 - 2000 words and will pay L$2000.

Designer Showcases

Designer Showcases are longer articles written about businesses in Second Life. The writer should interview the designer and use that as the basis for the text. To be featured in a showcase article a designer must have at least 10 - 15 designs that we can take photos of to feature alongside the text. Each article should be between 1000 - 1500 words and will pay L$ 2000.

AI text

Stylecards will not accept any text that has been created by AI. While we feel AI has its place, it isn't in our magazine.
