Stylecards № 2

We made it! Another issue of Stylecards hot off the virtual press, with a lot more content and including some new features.

First off, I want to give a shoutout to Sheristrawberri. She reached out as I was putting the finishing touches on Stylecards № 1 and without her immense help, this issue would have been a lot thinner and a lot harder to put together. This issue is a huge testament to her skills in writing and her contacts with so many Second Life residents. I’m sure to rely on her as we plan and put together upcoming issues. Anyone who knows me in RL knows I like to express my gratitude, and I want to acknowledge her contributions and give her my heartfelt gratitude. Thanks, Sheri!

Through Sheri, I met two inspiring designers: Mrs. B of Basalia’s Fine Fashions and SpunkyGrl of Tastic, and I want to thank both of them for agreeing to help us kick off the Designer Showcase feature. There are so many great designers ion Second Life and it’s wonderful to be able to shine a spotlight on them.

I would be remiss if I didn’t also extend thanks to the models, sim owners, and everyone else who helped us with this issue of Stylecards. Over the past few months I’ve found that it takes a lot of effort to put a magazine together and it’s difficult to do alone. To everyone who helped out, Thanks!

Stylecards is still looking to work with new authors, models, and photographers. We know your time is valuable, so we’re willing to pay. The amount sort of depends, but authors can expect L$2000 for an article and photographers and models can earn around L$2000 per pictorial. Feel free to send me a notecard for details.

We also want to work with designers to put them in and some of their works in the Designer Showcase feature. Though they don’t get paid, they do get an ad if they want. Stylecards doesn’t accept paid features, but we do accept samples for evaluation and to write about. Generally, to be featured in a Designer Showcase, we would need 10 – 15 products to be shown. Newer designers with smaller product lines can still make our pages in one of the themed pictorials. The themed pictorials for this issue are Pride, summer activities, and evening wear.

Finally, this issue also introduces a Reader Survey, which I hope becomes a regular feature. Reader surveys are valuable because they help us get a better understanding of our readers, as well as their ideas for improving the magazine. If you’re reading this issue, I hope you’ll take the time to grab the notecard on the second to last page, fill it out, and send it in.
